This Privacy Policy explains how Pause Unlock (“the App”) handles information. “I”, “me”, and “my” refer to the app’s developer. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

  • No account required: The App does not require you to create an account.
  • No analytics: I do not use analytics or tracking SDKs to collect usage data.
  • Stored locally: Your settings and any content you add (text, images, videos) are stored on your device.

Information the App Stores

The App is designed to work without collecting personal information to any server controlled by me. Instead, it stores certain information locally on your device so the App can function:

  • Settings (e.g., pause duration, whether “Skip” is enabled, selected mode such as breathing/media/text)
  • Custom messages you create
  • Selected media (images/videos) you choose for the pause overlay

Media Storage

If you choose to add images or videos, the App copies the selected media into the App’s private storage on your device so it can be shown during the pause screen. This media remains on your device unless you remove it in the App or uninstall the App.

Permissions (and Why)

  • Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to show the full-screen pause overlay when you unlock your phone.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to show the persistent notification required for the background service.
  • Foreground service: Required to run the unlock detection service reliably.
  • Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Allows the service to restart after your device reboots.
  • Media access (photos/videos) when you choose media: Used only to let you select media and copy it into the App’s private storage.

How Information Is Used

Locally stored information is used only to:

  • Show the pause overlay when you unlock your device
  • Remember your preferences
  • Display your selected breathing/media/text content

What I Collect

I do not collect or store your personal information on my servers.

I do not use analytics or tracking tools to profile you or sell data.

Sharing

I do not sell your personal information. Because I do not collect your personal information on servers, I do not share it with third parties.

Internet Access

The App may include standard platform components that declare internet access. I do not use the App to upload your personal content. If you contact me by email, your message will be handled by your email provider.

Data Retention

Your settings, messages, and copied media remain on your device until you delete them within the App or uninstall the App.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect the App, but no method of storage is 100% secure. Because data is stored on your device, your device security (screen lock, encryption, etc.) is important.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Choices

  • You can disable permissions in Android settings (some features may not work without required permissions).
  • You can remove saved messages and media in the App’s settings.
  • You can uninstall the App to remove locally stored data.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will be updated when changes are made.
